Description:
****SOLD**** This is a very nice, original Colt 1873 Single Action Army U.S. Cavalry model revolver just out of the woods. The Colt Single Action Army was the primary sidearm of the U.S. Military between 1873 and 1892. A total of 37,063 units were purchased by the U.S. Government chambered in .45 Colt with a 7-1/2" barrel, Government blue/case hardened finish, and one piece oil finished walnut grips. Most of these Colts were re-worked several times while in government service, having their numbered parts mixed, and their barrels shortened to 5-1/2" during the Spanish American War period. To find an original numbers matching Cavalry Model in unmolested condition is exceedingly rare. Originals can easily reach six figure prices in high condition. This scarce and desirable Colt is serial number 9285, has all original finish, Ainsworth proofed and numbered parts including the 7-1/2" barrel and one piece Walnut grip.  Ainsworth inspected Cavalry models are among the most desirable of the Old West/Indian War Period U.S. Issued sidearms. Ainsworth inpected Colts in the 4-5K Serial range were carried by Custer's 7th Cavalry at the Battle of The Little Bighorn. This original U.S. Colt Single Action was purchased from a local family that has had it for several generations and is being offered for sale for the fiisrt time in nearly a century. We have inspected this piece very closely and determined that it is 100% original except for the period front sight repair which may have been done in the field. The original front sight has been replaced with a German silver front sight blade that has been with this gun since the 1800's. The mechanics are excellent with perfect timing, a very nice bore and clean chambers. All serial numbers are matching including the cylinder, barrel, grip, frame, trigger guard and one piece walnut handles. All Ainsworth "A" & Government "P" proofs are present and legible where they should be with the exception of the handles which are worn smooth. The grips fit perfectly to the frame and upon removal still show the original ink stamped serial number as can been seen in the last pic. We have sold many Martial marked Colt's over the last 48 years we have been in business, and we guarantee this Single Action to be 100% as described. These don't come around very often, don't miss your chance to own a real piece of Old West/Military history at a very reasonable price. **Note: We would be glad to answer any questions you may have and/or provide additional pics if needed.                      PRICE:   $10,750              We are Antique & Modern Firearms in Lexington, KY, dealer of fine firearms since 1974.                    PH. 859-276-1419         We Buy, Sell and Trade Firearms & Knives.    Have a Individual Firearm,  Firearms Collection, or Firearms Estate to sell, let us know, we can buy or consignment sell it for you.                   NOTE:  No additional fee for a Credit Card payment.
