Mauser Borsigwalde was the Second Mauser Plant and was located in a suburb of Berlin. In 1898 the German Army purchased a Mauser design, the Model 98, which incorporated improvements introduced in earlier models. The weapon was originally chambered for the Patrone 88 and officially entered German service as the Gew. 98 on April 5, 1898. This remains by far the most successful of the Mauser designs, helped by the onset of two world wars that demanded vast numbers of rifles. Manufactured at the start of World War II, this Mauser 98 bears the "243" code over the "1939" date on the receiver ring, along with German Military inspection marks. Fitted with a smooth pistol grip stock with a flat steel buttplate and a leather sling. The overall condition is very good. Armory refinished. Import marked. This one has a Burris scout scope in 2.75 power installed in the rear sight base. The action is excellent. The bore is in good shape with sharp rifling. The stock is solid with wear apparent. The numbers on the barrel and receiver match with original numbers, while the magazine floor plate, trigger guard, and bolt parts have been electropenciled to match. The stock has been stamped to match. This firearm is classified as a Curio & Relic. Barrel is 24 inches. Caliber: 7.92x57mm (8mm Mauser) Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe.
