Description:
This Swiss M.78 Vetterli rifle was once one of the most technologically advanced rifles in Europe, featuring for the first time a self-cocking action and two opposed rear locking lugs. Being a Swiss rifle, it never saw any formal wartime use, but it has a notable history in the US, being used in surprising numbers in the Coal Wars (especially during the Battle of Blair Mountain) and as a deer rifle up until the early 1970s. The rear sight on this particular rifle is bent, but it would still make for a fantastic wall-hanger and conversation piece. .41 Swiss
