The Smith & Wesson Highway Patrolman .357 Magnum Double Action Revolvers are a great personal defense and hunting handgun. It was introduced for law enforcement use as a more economical version of Smith & Wesson's flag ship, the mechanically identical Model 27 .357 Magnum. Instead of the high polished blue and checkered top strap the Highway Patrolman came with a less glossy blue and was only cataloged in two barrel lengths, 4 and 6 inches. It was built on the Smith & Wesson large N frame and will handle a steady diet of heavy .357 Magnum loads. The action on this revolver is well timed and there is very little cylinder end shake. Manufactured in 1978. .357 Magnum
