1864 Dated Antique ENFIELD Pattern .577 Cal 2-BAND Rifle-Musket NOT BRITISH
American Civil War Era Rifle
Here we present an antique Enfield Pattern 2-Band Rifle-Musket made in 1864. This one has no obvious maker mark and no British proofs. There are small markings around the breech of the barrel but no recognizable proofs from any country. This one is marked on the tail of the lock “1864/2/3335”. The 3335 is a serial number that can be found throughout such as on the barrel and trigger guard, butt plate tang, etc. The breech end of the barrel is multifaceted and shortly transitions to round. The bore has 4 groove rifling giving the muzzle a distinctive look. The rear sight is graduated to 900 yards.
The overall condition is good. Gray patina. The action is excellent. The bore is in good condition with strong rifling. The stock is solid and shows wear; it does have a short split on the left stock flat at the rear lock screw, which is not unusual and does not pose a threat to overall integrity. An interesting piece!
