Description:
This WWI bolt action rifle is a Remington Model of 1917 chambered in .30-06 Springfield. Remington's production of the Model 1917 rifle was a premier achievement in arming the American soldier in World War I. This particular firearm has a number of cartouches on the stock and markings on the receiver and other parts (see photos), a steel butt plate with cleaning kit storage door (no actual cleaning kit included), a winged-protected fixed blade front sight, and a rear sight with a folding leaf adjustable for elevation, but not windage. The barrel is marked "E, flaming bomb, 6-18," and the left side of the stock is a boxed O.G.E.K. The bluing is in good condition overall with considerable loss at muzzle and on the sharp edges. The wood is in good condition with no chips, but does show considerable handling wear and marks throughout. This firearm has a great patina throughout. .30-06 Springfield
