Description:
This Springfield Trapdoor Model 1873 was manufactured in 1884 and remains in very good overall condition. Wood is solid but has two hairline cracks on left side of buttstock. There is a very old gouge on left side of stock under rear sight about 3" long and an old large chip missing from left front forend. There is also a very old impression of letters "A.A.D." in bottom under receiver and in front of trigger. Only visible cartouche is the "P" inspectors mark on bottom of wrist. Metal has patinaed with age and has oxidation all over. Metal ramrod is missing from gun. Bore is very good. Gun is complete with 18" spike bayonet with metal cover. This gun is not perfect, but it's not bad for 139 years old! .45-70 Government
