Description:
Serial #571550, .32 ACP, 3 3/4" barrel with an excellent, bright bore. This is a Type IV, "US PROPERTY" marked pistol that has matching numbers on the frame and slide, with the metal retaining 98-99% of the original parkerized finish, and some small spots of silvering along a few of the high edges and projections. The checkered walnut, Colt medallion grips are in excellent shape with very few handling marks and almost no flattening of the points. The pistol is housed in the original, numbered Kraft box, along with two original magazines and bore brush. A 2018-dated Colt Factory Letter also accompanies the pistol and lists a shipping date of February 20, 1945, to the Washington Quartermaster Depot in Cameron, VA. The pistol was one of 504 in the shipment. Also included with the pistol are photos of Robert Baker, a USAAF C-46 Commando pilot and the original issuee of the pistol, as well as a set of USAAF pilot wings marked "STERLING" on the reverse. Some background draft and personal information for Baker is also included, and indicates that he passed away in August of 1971. This is a fabulous example of a late-war Model 1903, in excellent original condition, and would make a great addition to any collection. FFL or C&R
