Description:
This P38-K is a super early gun, the 64th made, this example having been proofed in 1974. Shipped in a standard P38 wood grain box with a factory matching label, the “K” having been hand written. This is the same kind of adjustment found on the test target, again numbered to the pistol, but with a hand written “K” suffix, likely a transitional effort before Walther made up its standard stamps and labeling. The gun itself has standard features with a white insert front sight mounted on forward slide bridge. Horizontally adjustable rear sight. Left side of frame with Walther banner followed by a single line Walther address surmounting the “P38-K” designation. The full serial number is on the right side of the slide. Production year 1974. Proof marked on left side upper trigger guard. Matte finish barrel, slide, and all small parts; black anodized alloy frame. Two piece checkered black plastic grips with left panel recessed for lanyard loop. Two high polish commercial magazines each marked with the Walther banner over P38 9mm. Crisp test target and instruction booklet. Standard P38 shipping box with external scuffs. Synopsis: Super scarce and super early Walther P38-K, near new, with black plastic grips, spare magazine, P38-K instruction booklet, numbered test target, in wood grain box with matching orange/black P38-K end label. Condition: Fantastic, 99+%, near new condition that equally applies to the grips and magazines. Mirror bore. Perfect manual mechanics.
