Description:
This is the Deluxe edition of the famous Sako L579 Forester. I've owned this rifle since 1995. From the serial number it appears the rifle was manufactured in 1962.
The barrel is 22" and a very slim sporter contour. The LOP is 13.5". The stock is very elegantly sculpted with a wonderful feel in the grip and forend. The walnut stock has nice figure and other than small handling marks/shallow impressions, is in great condition. There are no cracks, scrapes, or gouges. The metal is deeply blued with some blueing worn at the edges of the muzzle. The stock has a rosewood grip cap and foreend. Very nice engraving on the hinged floor plate and underside of the trigger guard. This is an integral "magazine". This is not a box magazine type of action.
This rifle is very accurate and a pleasure to handle and shoot. Three generations (that I know of) have taken whitetail deer with this rifle; myself, my son, and my grandson.
We have taken good care of this rifle and it has been in a controlled environment safe in my home since I bought it.
