Description:
ONE OF THE LAST OF THE CLASSIC 1894 SADDLE RING CARBINES, .30WCF, #1013XXX, MADE 1928. A really excellent example with lots of original finish, most of these 1920s vintage 1894s have flaked receivers due to a change in the hardening process/bluing application. During this time, receiver blue looked more like a dull black that flaked and wore quickly. This example retains most of the blue on the receiver with just some light beginnings of flaking with edge wear. Excellent blue on the bolt and upper tang etc. The barrel and magazine show fine deep blue with some very light thinning mainly on the mag tube. Correct carbine ladder sight with slide intact, wood shows only light handling with tight wood to metal fit. Tight action, excellent screw heads, excellent markings, bright excellent bore. About the year 1928, Winchester began eliminating the saddle ring making this example one of the last. Hard to find this nice.
