Description:

Hoffman Arms Co. , Cleveland, Ohio #171 .375 H&H  built on an Oberndorf Mauser Single Square Bridge magnum length action with a 26" barrel with banded ramp front sight, banded sling stud, and integral quarter rib with three folding leaves. Bore is excellent. The square bridge action has the famous Hoffman pop up rear peep sight and a Noske sidemount with 7/8" split rings. Drop box bottom metal with straddle floorplate and trigger bow release. Stocked in straight grained English Walnut with a double beaded pancake cheekpiece and horn forend tip.  Engraving by Rudolph Kornbrath includes the banded sling stud, around the front sight, trigger guard, floorplate and trap grip cap. Barrel engraving includes both their Cleveland and New York City adresses. Original sling with Hoffman logo. LOP is 14" to a degraded and probably original Silver's pad. Weight 10lb 14oz

This is a classic American firearm from the early 20th century made between 1923 and 1925 before their move to Ardmore, Oklahoma. They closed their doors in 1930 at the height of the Great Depression. It is original, unaltered, and unmolested although originally would have carried an earlier scope. It shows no sign of refinish. This is as good as it gets.
