This is a nice looking little revolver, made ca. 1940, that has matching numbers on the frame, barrel, cylinder, yoke, and extractor. The metal retains 80-85% of the original blue finish, with silvering at the muzzle and sides of the barrel, silvering along the high and exposed edges, as well as gray fading along the backstrap. There is a mild turn-ring on the cylinder, and some further silvering around the flutes. The hammer and trigger retain a commensurate amount of original color case-hardening, with the balance faded to dull gray. The checkered, diamond-center grips are correct, but numbered to a different gun on the interior. They are in about good shape, but do have a fair amount of handling wear, especially the left panel. The backstrap is marked with an unknown police department issue number: "K.P.D. 15". This is a very good example of a police marked I-frame S&W overall.
