This 7ID badge was awarded for valorous conduct on patrols, in actual combat, or subsequent duty performance. On the top of the swagger stick is a 17th Infantry Regiment “Buffalo” challenge coin. Named after their Regiment Commander, Col. William “Buffalo Bill” Quinn this coin features a standing buffalo similar to the one found on a buffalo nickel. Along the bottom of the coin is the date “1812” which represents the first time a 17th Infantry Regiment was activated. The coin traces back to 1951 and was given out until the early 1960’s. Mounted at the top and bottom of this unique piece of wood are .50 caliber shells casings. This would make a fine addition to a Korean War collection. Buyer to pay actual shipping. SOLD |
