Bright near excellent bore with crisp rifling throughout. Most all of the original thinning barrel blue remains. Just some slight edge wear on the octagon corners. Barrel was most likely shortened long ago. The finely engraved frame has good traces of original case color remaining in the protected areas with the balance dimming to a gray patina. The sides of the frame are finely engraved with detailed scrollwork and punch-dot shading that continues slightly onto the barrel flats. Each side shows a game scene flanked by parchment scroll. Right side with an eagle landing upon a rabbit and the left side feature a bull and cow Elk in forest scene. ''Creedmoor' is engraved on the top of the frame next to the barrel. Original rear sight base is present but the assembly appears to be a replacement and retains brilliant fire blue. Blade front sight. Checkered pistolgrip walnut stock and forend remain in fine condition retaining most original varnish and mostly crisp checkering. Although no longer in ''Creedmoor'' configuration with the shorter barrel, the rifle is now quite handy and features superb engraving!
