The Smith & Wesson Model 396 AirLite Ti Mountain Lite revolver is one of the larger models in a series of lightweight revolvers utilizing titanium for construction of the cylinder in combination with an aluminum alloy frame. Titanium is a difficult material to machine and this fact has prevented its successful application in handgun design previously. Obviously, Smith & Wesson has mastered the technology needed to work with this material and the reward is a lighter weight handgun with the added bonus of being stronger than previously seen steel models. With a weight of only 18 ounces, the Smith & Wesson AirLite Ti Mountain Lite has to be one of the lightest .44 caliber revolver any manufacturer has ever produced.
