Description:
Probably one of the first 38-40's. 20 inch round barrel with original sights and full length magazine tube. Bright shiny bore with 2 rings about half way down with sharp rifling. Barrel and mag have turned a gray/brown color. The case hardened receiver has turned a nickely color. Extra figure checkered walnut stocks are in very good condition with the correct early 2nd Model style checkering. Just a few minor bruises and handling mars. Complete with a rifle style buttplate. Also has the correct 1 inch shorter forearm. Action is crisp and tight. Barrel and frame have foreign proof marks showing that this rifle has traveled over seas at some point in its life. An attractive 1873 from 1879 when the 38 WCF caliber was introduced.
