Small Caliber Single Shot TARGET Rifle
Here we present a C&R Birmingham Small Arms (BSA) Martini-Henry Single Shot Falling Block Target Rifle made circa the turn of the century in Birmingham, England. The Martini–Henry is a breech-loading single-shot lever action rifle whose first iteration of the rifle came about in 1871 and was adopted by the British Army to replace the Enfield Snider Breech Loading Rifles that were being phased out. The action is based on the patent by American and Boston native Henry O. Peabody, which was improved by Swiss inventor Friedrich von Martini. The new polygonal barrel rifling was the design of Scotsman Alexander Henry. This is where the rifle derives its name. Martini–Henry variants were used throughout the British Empire for 47 years.
The overall condition is good. Original weathered patina. The action is excellent with a crisp single action trigger. The bore is in good condition, clean with nice rifling. The sights are a very nice feature. The stock has a very ergonomic pistol grip. The stock has a crack through the grip that has been secured and is immobile, the rest shows lots of use and wear. One that would still be a very fun shooter.
