Payment Types Accepted: Visa,Master Card, Discover,Check Description: Presented for consideration is a Ruger New Model Blackhawk in .44 Magnum caliber. In 1973, in order to eliminate accidents occurring from the hammer jarring against a round loaded in the sixth chamber, Ruger introduced the New Model Blackhawk. The New Model Blackhawk did not require the hammer to be half-cocked for loading and unloading, and it employed a transfer bar mechanism which prevented the cartridge under the hammer from being fired without the trigger being pulled. The New Blackhawk was seen as limiting firearms accidents and legal liability. Opening the loading gate allows the cylinder to be moved for loadiing of up to 6 cartridges. The .44 Remington Magnum, also known as .44 Magnum or 10.9x33mmR (as it is known in unofficial metric designation), is a rimmed, large-bore cartridge originally designed for revolvers and quickly adopted for carbines and rifles. Despite the ".44" designation, guns chambered for the .44 Magnum round, and its parent, the .44 Special, use 0.429 in (10.9 mm) diameter bullets. The .44 Magnum is based on the .44 Special case but lengthened and loaded to higher pressures for greater velocity and energy. This particular example has been used very little as evidenced by the light turn rings. There is virtually no wear at all on this fine Ruger Blackhawk. It is a 50th Anniversary model commemorating a milestone of the .44 Magnum cartridge. It has a ramped blade front sight and a micro adjustable rear. It is in outstanding condition overall. The 6 1/2" barrel is bright with strong rifling. This would make a great addition to a collection or a very special shooter.
