Description:
This classic, inimitable rimfire pistol is a 1956 Colt Match Target chambered in .22 Long Rifle. The Colt "Woodsman" category of semi-automatic pistols is comprised of several different model names and series manufactured by the U.S.Colt's Manufacturing Company from 1915 to 1977. It was designed by John Moses Browning. The frame design changed over time, in three distinct series: series 1 being 1915–1941, series 2 1947–1955, and series 3 being 1955 – 1977. This is a third series "Match Target." It has a double pinned serrated-ramp fixed blade front sight, an adjustable square notch rear sight, a left side manual thumb safety, original two-piece checkered injection-molded plastic panel grips with a thumb-shelf on the left panel for a right-handed shooter, and a six-inch barrel. The Colt Woodsman Match Target was a top-of-the-line .22 LR pistol and sat at the pinnacle of performance and accuracy for many years, prior to its being discontinued in 1977. The bluing is in relatively good condition with some loss to the sharp edges. The left side grip has some significant scratching on and around the thumb rest and there is a piece missing at the base of that grip adjacent to the magazine well. It comes with the original Colt 10-round magazine. .22 Long Rifle
