Finish has turned to a brown patina with original blue remaining in protected areas. Revolver lacks any military acceptance marks. Milner's letter states this revolver was purchased on October 28th 1900 By Major Richard Josiah Smyly. Smyly would serve in South Africa during the Boer War and would be wounded July 1901. Bore is good with some oxidation visible in the strong rifling. He would spend two years in the Egyptian Army being prompted to Capt. and Governor of Khsrtoum. During WWI Smyly would again be promoted to Brigade Major at the training camp in Larkhill where he would be for the rest of the War. Brown checkered grips are good with slight wear.
