Description:
GORGEOUS WINCHESTER MODEL 70 FEATHERWEIGHT 1 of 1000 ULTRA GRADE in .270 Winchester. Manufactured in 1983, this rifle has a featherweight style barrel manufactured without sights, it does come with a pair of engraved rings, with one wide and one thin gold wire barrel bands near the muzzle, "1 of 1,000" inlayed in gold on the right side of the barrel and an oval Winchester proofmark on top. The action displays nearly full coverage scroll engraving with punch dot backgrounds and gold wire borders and is marked with "UG686" in gold. The bolt body and magazine follower are jeweled. The trigger guard, metal grip cap and floor plate are scroll engraved. The floor plate is engraved with the head of a big horn sheep and gold wire borders. The bolt knob has a complex and well detailed flower and scroll engraving. The left rear of the action is signed "Bottega C. Giavonelli" giving the source of engraving as the Cesar Giavonelli school of engraving in Brescia, Italy.
This wonderful heirloom Winchester is stocked in extra fancy American walnut in the featherweight style with a Schnabel foreend tip. Both sides of the butt are intensely figured with full sunburst fans of reds, blacks and dark browns. The rich colors continue throughout the stock. The checkering is extra fancy with an integrated ribbon pattern. The checkering borders the forearm and the pistol grip. Blued sling swivel studs and a Winchester red rubber rifle pad are additional features. The barrel is 22 inches long, and uses a fully round featherweight profile.
