The Browning Superposed is one of the finest over/under shotguns in history and one of John Browning’s most brilliant designs.  Production of the Browning Superposed was done in Belgium, running strong from 1931 through 1977 when traditional production stopped.  Browning did not introduce the Superposed in the .410 bore until 1960.  From 1960 to 1966 there were a total of only 1277 .410 guns made with the precious long tang round knob pistol grip stock IN ALL GRADES, so you can see why they are so hard to find.  LESS THAN 400 WERE PRODUCED AS FIELD GUNS WITH THE FIELD STYLE FOREND.  MOST WERE MADE AS THE LESS DESIRABLE SKEET GUN WITH BEAVERTAIL FOREND.  THIS IS A RARE GUN!  Most of the .410 bore guns you do find are salt wood guns produced with the short trigger guard tang and either round knob or square knob stocks late in 1966 through 1972, have cut stocks, recoil pads, less desirable 26” barrels, guns with lots of wear, or guns that have been refinished.  This gun, sn1553 J6 made in early 1966, is in AS NEW CONDITION WITH 100%  FACTORY BLUE AND WOOD FINISH.  The buttstock has the factory buttplate with slight curve to the butt. The barrels are tight like a new gun on face and hinge…the gun has barely been shot.  The wood has virtually all the original factory finish without a single mark anywhere and is nicely figured French walnut.  The barrels are the desirable 28” choked SKEET 1 AND SKEET 2, the ultimate quail, grouse, woodcock, and preserve pheasant gun.  It is just at home on the skeet range and clays course as it is in the field. The round knob Prince of Wales style grip with the long tang trigger guard is by far the most sought-after version of this Superposed, as late in 1966 they changed to the short tang and had the infamous saltwood problems that do not exist in this gun.  The screws are perfect, and the trigger retains 100% gold finish.  This is a premium, hard to find gun unaltered since it left the factory.  They don't get any better, and these little .410 bore Superposed guns keep going up in value and make a great investment as you enjoy its use.  The Superposed was a true hand-fitted, hand engraved, hand checkered, finely made European shotgun that has earned its place in history as the most successful over/under in the 20th century.  Don't miss out on this one as it is priced to sell.  Thanks for looking!
