Serial No. 12129, circa 1900, .455, 6"" Wilkinson Sword Co. Pall Mall London. marked barrel. 97% of arsenal refurbished dull blue is present, Bore is very good with strong rifling visible, minor frosting is noted in the grooves. Brown checkered wooden grips are very good with light wear noticeable. Escutcheon is engraved with ""AL"", Wilkinson registration number is marked on the lower left side. Action functions correctly with a tight lock up. The revolver is housed in an original five compartment oak case, Wilkinson retail label is present with oiler and cleaning rod. This Webley was given as a prize to Cadet J.P. Longfield after his graduation, records show it was purchased December 1904. that same year would join the 1st battalion which was his fathers old unit. When war broke out Captain Longfield would be sent into action and would give a full report on the Christmas Truce of 1914. During the Battle of the Somme at the age of 29 the young Captain would be struck down by a German Sniper on September 30th 1915. He lies in the Bray-sur-Somme Communal Cemetery.
