STERLINGWORTH 12 GA. 30" , Choked Mod. & Full. This is one is for the most serious of Fox collectors...although a "Field" grade
it is in unbelievably Mint and virtually un-shot condition, and would fill in the low end of the Fox collection with a grade that is
generally impossible to find in "collectable" condition -- this one is by far the finest ( AND MOST CURIOUS) I have seen in my 32+ years of publishing
the Double Gun Journal !
WHY "CURIOUS" ? Note the absence of barrel-weight stamping , but the prescence of Belgium proof mark (containing the number "3") on the right barrel--just ahead of the flats. . . these barrels are No. 3 weight. Note also that the Belgium proof mark on the left side was filed off, as I assume was routinely done so that the legend stamped on the exterior "FLUID COMPRESSED STEEL MADE BY A.H. FOX. . ." made sense. (Whoops !)
This gun was specially ordered with high-grade wood. Buttstock and Forend still retain 100% original varnish and checkering.
All metal surfaces retain 100%CC and 99+ % Blue (See results of rubbing on base of left barrel).
