Description:
This is a scarce British Lee Metford rifle, the grand daddy of the vast SMLE rifle family that remained in service well beyond WWII. This is the gun that started it all. Imagine having a lightning fast bolt action rifle with an unprecedented 10 round removable(!) mag in the 1890s, that was the ultimate hi capacity assault weapon of the day. I brought it from Australia a few months ago, its in excellent overall shape, with 90%+ original blue on the metal, solid stock with crisp markings, smooth tight action and very good bore. Original chain that holds the 10 round mag is there.The gun also retained its rare original cleaning rod and a mag cut off, these were frequently removed later in service. Original steel butt plate is correct for this model, they went with brass butt plate later on in the 1890s and upgraded to steel butt plate again in the 1900s. No license needed to buy except NJ and NY residents.
