c1922 Rifle with Octagonal Barrel; 4x15 Fixed Scope
Here we present a C&R Remington Model 12 CS Rifle in .22 Rem. Special (.22 WRF), made circa 1922 in Ilion, New York. This rifle has a takedown feature, octagonal barrel, and hammerless design. Its chambering may not be familiar to some, but .22 Remington Special and .22 Winchester Rimfire are the same cartridge but sold under the latter moniker these days. It is a nice cartridge for someone wanting more power than .22 LR but not so much as .22 Magnum (WMR). This one has been topped with a fixed power 4x15 Selsi scope that makes this setup great for small game or plinking. Many of our forebearers would have used a rifle like this to put a rabbit or squirrel in the pot during the Great Depression.
The overall condition is near fine. Original finish. The action is excellent. The bore is shiny bright with sharp rifling. The stock shows use and remains solid.
