HIGH CONDITION ANTIQUE SERIAL NUMBER 1892 .32-20 ROUND BARREL RIFLE, WITH FACTORY LETTER, #90XXX, MADE 1898. An interesting Winchester letter from the Cody Firearms Museum which states that this rifle had the serial number applied on March 16, 1898, rifle, cal. .32, round barrel, plain trigger, received in the warehouse July 1, 1898 and shipped on January 31, 1899. Additionally, the letter states that this rifle "Repair and Return on July 31, 1912." This rifle shows about all the deep blue on the barrel and magazine. The barrel is fitted with the standard buckhorn rear sight with elevator bar intact and a Marble No.2 blade/bead front sight. The receiver, bolt, loading gate, upper and lower tangs retain fine deep blue with only some very light edge wear mainly on the left side top edge of the receiver and some very small amount of plum mixing at the bottom forward portion of the receiver by the serial number. Still some nice light case color on the hammer and left side of the lever with the right side a bit more faded. Excellent screw heads, exc. markings, forend mostly gray butt plate and forend cap blue mixing brown. Exc. wood with tight wood to metal fit. Tight action with strong hammer spring and safety half-cock. Bright, sharp minty bore. Getting very hard to find antique serial number 1892s this nice.
