Description:
Handsome and fast handling lightweight British 12 bore ideal for the upland bird hunter who wants the power of a 12 in a double that weighs like a 20 gauge. Made 1946-48 this gun is very nicely engraved with nearly all its original case coloring. The bluing on the barrels is also in excellent condition. Auto safety, automatic ejectors, double triggers, Balances right on the hinge pin. Easy to carry for a day afield at 5lb 14oz.   ***   The 26” original nitro steel barrels are chambered for 2-3/4” shothells. They are topped by a raised solid concave gamestyle rib. The rib is inscribed “Charles Hellis & Sons Ltd. 121 & 123 Edgeware Rd. Hyde Park. London. W.” The right barrel is bored 0.731 with a constriction of 0.006 for Skeet choke. Minimum wall thickness is 0.024. The left barrel is bored 0.733 and has a constriction of 0.31 for Full choke. Minimum wall thickness is 0.023.   ***   The straight hand stock and splinter forearm are made of very nicely figured European walnut. Checkering is crisp and the finish is excellent. The stock has a checkered butt and the forearm is secured by an Anson release. Stock dimensions are 14-1/4” to a checkered butt by 1-1/2” by 2”. Cast off for the righthand shot.   ***   This gun is a true birdgun, something that gets lost in this sporting clays world we shoot in. It has short barrels, great balance, light weight, is stocked for rising birds, and has great handling characteristics. It’s a lethal tool for the knowledgeable upland gunner. Don’t miss out.  ***   Please note that the photographs are part of the description. I am an FFL and will need a copy of your dealer’s FFL license. I give a 3-day non-firing inspection period which begins when it arrives at the buyer’s FFL or specified address if the gun is classified as an Antique. Returns at buyer’s expense.
