Description:
This is a Merkel Model 147EL Grade, side by side, 12-gauge shotgun. It was manufactured in Suhl, Germany, and imported into the United States by Merkel USA out of Trussville, Alabama. The designation “EL” is inlaid in silver on the top lever. This gun, serial number 386931, was likely manufactured around the early 2000s. The locking mechanism is a Greener cross-bolt with double under barrel lugs. It has 28-inch barrels choked improved cylinder and modified, 3 inch chambers, a raised solid rib with a brass bead front sight, double triggers, Holland and Holland style automatic selective ejectors, and tang safety. The silver-grayed receiver was hand engraved by Master Engraver Gerhard Liebscher. It has three ducks engraved on its left side, three pheasants engraved on its right, and extensive scrolling and engraving throughout the remainder of the receiver, screw heads, trigger guard, and upper tang. The metal portion of the forearm is also engraved.
The Turkish walnut English style stock is finely checkered and has a black butt plate. The splinter forearm is finely checkered as well. The length of pull is approximately 14-3/8 inches. The gun is in outstanding condition. It’s lock-up is as expected and the bores are outstanding. The gun’s published weight is 6.8 ibs.
Included with the gun are its original box serial numbered to the gun, the owner’s manual, the Guarantee card, a product catalog and other associated literature, a Merkel patch, and two Browning snap caps. Also included is a Merkel, custom fitted, locking case.
