With Its controlled round feed mechanism, quality of manufacture and elegant simplicity, the Model 70 has forged a place in American culture, earning the epithet “The Rifleman’s Rifle”, and it is the standard against which all other bolt actions are judged. This ‘Classic Pre 64’ style Super Grade is a 2001 manufactured example, serial number G358419, it is un-fired and still has its original packing box and paperwork. Chambered in the powerful Remington Ultra Magnum it can take any game in North America, especially at long range where the .300RUM excels! The gun is in 99% factory original condition with the barrel bearing the legend MADE IN NEW HAVEN, CT, USA. Production finally came to a halt at the New Haven factory in 2006. The rifles produced there have become collectable and desirable, very rarely does an un-fired Model 70 appear! The wood and metal are in 99% factory new condition, the rifle has been examined and admired but the gun has not been fired. The stock shows magnificent grain with dark flowing lines and feathering especially vivid along the comb, the stock has a cheek piece framed with a shadow line while the forend is fitted with an Ebony tip. The checkering is perfect. The three-shot magazine has a hinged base plate for ease of maintenance and unloading, the bolt is jeweled to perfection! A centerpiece for any Winchester collection.
