This 1903 Springfield stock marked RA was probably made in 1942, as it lacks gripping grooves on the forearm and the inspector’s stamp is FJA (Col. Frank J. Atwood), whose acceptance stamp mostly appears on 1903A3 rifle stocks. The barrel band retainer is in the stock, as is the rear sling swivel. There are some storage and use marks on the stock, the arsenal, inspectors and Ordinance Acceptance (crossed canons) are clear and visible. Great for a vintage rifle restoration. A 1903A3 front barrel band with bayonet lug and middle barrel band are included, though no hand guard is available. This is most likely a take-off from a 1903 Springfield my father sporterized in the 1960’s.
