Description:
The item for sale is a Savage 99R manufactured in 1952. The rifle is chambered for the potent 300 Savage. The Savage 1899 rifle design was arguably ahead of it's time. The rotary magazine design allowed the chambering of powerful cartridges. This rifle is in very good condition. The metal retains 95% blue with the only blue loss on the raised edges of the receiver and the butt plate. The wood is also very nice. It is free of dents, dings and scratches. Sling swivels have been neatly added. It appears that the butt stock has been refinished and the checkering was re-cut. With this being said the rifle remains attractive. The case colors on the lever have faded but are still present
Mechanically the rifle is excellent, the action cycles as intended by Savage. The action is smooth and solid upon closing. The bore is very good.
