Description:
Colt 38 super Pre war MFG in 1933 Serial Number 14787 Blue original colt finish Shipped to Honeyman Hardware Portland Oregon in Sept 13 1933. As per the Factory letter that is with this piece. The blue finish is the original Colt finish.
The piece is all correct and matching It is a rough looking piece finish wise. It has a lot of wear on it ( if it could talk?) front strap wear and probably spent some time in a holster as its worn in many places. The slide is numbered to the frame, the sites are very nice, the grips are well worn but solid. The slide stop , hammer , safty, trigger ,bushing are all original to the piece. The barrel has a minty bore and the barrel is not marked,earley barrels like this one are not marked at all. the mechanics of the piece are excellent, I have shot it many times and its both accurate and functions perfectly. Its had a hard life but as with most of the Colt family of 1911S they are strong and are great shooters. The Magazine is the correct one for its age but shows a little cold blue on the bottom .It has a nice 4lb trigger pull as well. Dillinger and the bank robbers of the 1930's liked these 38 supers. Its not a pretty gun but its original finish, a piece of history and a great functioning old piece.
