Winchester Model 86 Extra Lightweight rifle in caliber 33 WCF, 24" extra light round barrel, 1/2 magazine, shotgun butt with correct hard rubber butt plate, plain walnut stocks, plain trigger, take down frame, ordered with the screw eyes for the Winchester sling & swivels, blued finish, serial number 159790, within the last 210 firearms of this model as the final serial number was 159994. Made in 1930.
CONDITION: Barrel and mag tube retain 85% bright original blue with some peppery surface oxidation forming that should clean off, no deep pitting. Receiver has flaked, typical of the period, just traces of original finish remaining. Stocks are sound, no splits or cracks, never sanded or refinished, still tight and proud, exhibiting light usage marks as expected. Action is smooth with a properly functioning half cock safety. Original sights include the 22 series rear with thumb print elevator and Lyman #4 Hunting Front common to the 86 extra light rifles. Take down is tight with no wobble. Strong, bright bore with no pitting and sharp rifling, about a 9 of 10. Very nice example in a hard hitting caliber that will make a great shooter and collector's item.
