The 32" round .81 caliber barrel has a very good rifled bore. The metal finish is bright mixed with brown patina. Stock is very good with no cracks or chips and the dents and dings to be expected of an issued firearm. The lock is marked “Mre Rle De Mutzig". It also has a small star over “W" inspection stamp. The barrel tang is marked “Mle 1842". The Barrel has “33" on the left flat with two inspection stamps, a small inspection stamp of “MR" and “1844" above. The sling swivels and ramrod are present. Herman Boker of New York imported 25,000 model 1840 and 1842 carbines in 1862. The action functions correctly.
