Here we have a classic Smith & Wesson Model 17-2 target revolver chambered in .22 long rifle. The Smith & Wesson Model 17 is a six-shot double-action revolver chambered for .22 LR. It is built on Smith & Wesson's medium-sized K-frame. Smith & Wesson's Models 16 and 17 have their origins with the company's Pre-World War 2 Hand Ejector series in the 1930s. These two revolver models debuted as companion pieces known as the Models K-32 and K-22 after World War 2. This particular example has some high edge and muzzle wear and moderate turn rings on the cylinder. Mechanically this revolver is in outstanding condition with timing that is better than some examples. The checkered grip panels have the S&W medallion on both sides and are free of cracks or chips. Though it shows some finish wear this fine Smith has many years of target shooting remaining in it's future and would make a great addition to an existing collection or a strong way to start a new collection.
