Payment Types Accepted: Description: This is a .50 cal. CVA Mountain Rifle made some time in the early 1970's with a 32" octagonal barrel. Percussion Maslin style lock has its color casehardening remaining. The barrel has a black look to it and was done usng brass black. This was not a kit gun but was created from a factory made and assembled rifle. Hook style breech with two barrel keys surrounded by German silver wedge inlays. Pewter nose cap. Stock has been redone by the original owner to age it and he got the idea from looking at pictures of original Hawken rifles that had been used hard. Steel furniture includes the buttplate, toeplate, trigger-guard and side lock screw washers. A silver capbox is inlaid in the center of the right side of the stock. I am pretty sure the barrel was rifled by Douglas Barrels as it is known that they were used in the early rifles that had the Made in the USA on the barrels. Later versions had Spain on them. If they were kit guns they were totally unmarked. It has a 1 in 66 twist and the bore has been very well cared for. Bright and Shiny with very sharp and crisp rifling. The double set trigger works perfectly and the lock is positive. These were and are extremely accurate rifles outshooting rifles costing hundreds more. Also included is a Lyman mold and handles for the .490 round ball. shipping is actual cost for priority with insurance. Normally 50-60$. Price is $595 with Lyman Molds. SOLD |
