Description:
Serial #570492B, .44 WCF (.44-40), 30" barrel with an excellent, bright bore. This is a 1903-made musket that retains 95-97% of the original bright blue finish with some traces of silvering at the muzzle and on some of the high and exposed edges. Some mild surface freckling is present on the sides of the frame, as well as along the bottom tang. The lever and hammer have most of their original color case-hardening remaining, and the brass cartridge lifter has a mild, yellow-ochre patina. The walnut buttstock is in excellent condition with only some very minor handling marks scattered about the original finish, while the forend, which is in cosmetically identical condition, has a new piece of wood added from the nose band to the middle band. The repair is expertly done, and is virtually undetectable. An original segmented cleaning rod is present in the stock compartment. This is a splendid Model 1873 Musket, in excellent condition, and would make a wonderful addition to any collection. FFL or C&R
