Manufactured at FABRICA DE ITAJUBA, BRAZIL w/SCOPE
Here we present a C&R Brazilian Model 1908/34.30 Military Rifle, made circa 1910 in Berlin, Germany. This is a 1908 DWM Mauser rifle that was refurbished by Brazil at the Fabrica De Itajuba in Itajuba, Brazil in the late 1940's. The top of the receiver ring has the Brazilian crest. The left side of the receiver is marked “7236” and “Fabrica De Itajuba-Brasil”. The right side is marked “Mod. 08/34.30”.
The Mauser Modelo 1908 long rifle became the standard infantry rifle for the Brazilian Army in 1908. These rifles were produced by DWM. DWM then in turn contracted some of these rifles out to Mauser Oberndorf. The only difference between the two rifles would be the maker’s address. If marked Berlin, it was made by DWM, and if marked Oberndorf, it was made by Mauser.
The overall condition is good. Robust action. The bore is bright and nicely rifled. This example has maintained a solid stock with less than average wear. Legible markings throughout. Mixed numbers. The barrel is “CAI” and “GERMANY” import marked. The scope offers a clear sight picture.
