It has a long recoil action, which means that the barrel and bolt move backward together during firing. The Model 11 also has a unique \"humpback\" receiver design, which gives it a distinctive appearance. The Model 11 was produced by Remington from 1911 to 1948, when it was replaced by the Model 11-48.
