Description: Serial #62374, 3 3/16" octagonal ribbed barrel with a rare bright, excellent bore showing only one patch of roughness about an inch forward of the breech. This is the Smith and Wesson Number One, 2nd Issue revolver manufactured from 1860-1868. The tip-up, spur trigger single action revolver is in rare excellent condition retaining about 55-60% of the original bright blue finish on the barrel and cylinder toning to a mottled plum brown with surface scratches and tiny impact marks. The silver plated brass frame has almost all of the original silver which has a natural dark, unpolished, aged patina with some surface marks and tiny impact nicks. The rosewood grips solid retaining perhaps 30% of the original finish with some tiny chips missing on the bottom of the right scale and is correctly numbered to the gun. The action functions properly with tight lock up and correct timing. A beautiful example of the First Model 2nd issue revolver. Antique SOLD Antique: Yes Manufacturer: S&W Model: 1st Model |
