Known to be the finest continuation of the famed Remington Rolling Block, the hand built Lone Star rifles came to an abrubt end when tragically the owner of the company had a fatal accident. Today, these custom rifles are eagerly sought after and seldom found. Most were either target models or standard weight sporters. This one is unusual in that it was made as one might find a true Rolling Block "Buffalo Rifle" of the early 1870s period. It has a 30" heavy octagon barrel that measures 1.25" across the flats at the muzzle and weighs a full 13 lbs. It was built using nicely grained fairly fancy walnut, beautiful case hardened receiver, butt plate and authentic styled forend cap. The hammer, breech lock, screws and barrel are polished blue. The upper tang is simply marked in very small letters "Lone Star Rifle Inc." over "Conroe, TX USA." As on originals, the bottom flat of the barrel ahead of the forend is caliber stamped "50." Interesting and practical sighting arrangement ideal for casual target or hunting consists of an authentic Remington "Rough and Ready" ladder rear sight with sliding peep aperture. Ahead of this is a standard buckhorn rear sight with elevator bar. The front sight is a Beach folding globe. When the ladder sight is folded down the shooter has full view of the buckhorn sight. Raise the ladder and it will range over the buckhorn rear sight. I have also seen shooters to opt to place a simple MVA spirit level in the buckhorn dovetail and use only the ladder/peep sight with the Beach front sight. New condition inside and out. If this is a rifle style you've been after, this may be a once in a lifetime chance to find such a Lone Star Buffalo Rifle!
