Description:
Relic condition 2nd Model Whitney 1861 Navy .36 caliber percussion revolver and several bronze or brass buckles that appear to be from horse tack. All these items were said to have been found together near the battlefield at Shiloh, Tennessee. The Serial Number  ‘4’, stamped on the bottom of the barrel. If any other number is present, it is obscured. If the serial number is '4,' that that indicates an early production Whitney and much of Whitney’s early production before the Civil War was sold to Southern states. The barrel is 6 3/4” long barrel with a tiny brass front sight. There is an accumulated layer of inactive corrosion that is now a rich patina. The frame has a break and there is no loading lever.

These relics were purchased by my father in an antique shop in Tennessee in 1975 for about $75, which he considered costly back then. Much later, he remounted them from the original plywood backing to the board that is shown. I do not know any additional details on S.B. Edwards, the location he purchased it, or where it was said to be collected. Regardless, it is a wonderful Civil War era revolver.

Only US sales. Shipping will be $25.  I accept a postal money order, bank check, or PayPal. If you use the latter and don't use F&F, kindly add 3%.
