It's time to move my private collection down the road to the next generation of collectors and shooters, and this is one of those. A very scarce model, a Savage 99D from 1925. The 1920's 99D is a rarely encountered heavy barrel takedown in 300 Savage. It shows it's age at 98 years but overall it's still a pretty nice rifle, especially considering how hard they are to come across. The bore looks like a mirror and this rifle should really shoot. It'd be a fun one to try on deer or elk. It balances well with the heavy barrel. There's a rusty original buttplate included but the one I switched onto the rifle is much nicer.
Not perfect, but a great piece of Savage history that's very presentable. I'd say add it to a collection or hunt it, can't lose either way.
