This is an original 44 caliber model 1860 Army revolver. It has a 5-digit serial number  48897, it was made in early 1862. All visible serial numbers match. The wedge is not numbered and the cylinder number is unreadable; Overall the metal is bright with no pitting and is smooth. The walnut grips are very good with minor scratches. The action functions great the cylinder spins at half cock, The rifling lands and grooves are all visible A solid tight early example of a Civil War Colt revolver.
