This is a very handsome, 1978-made revolver that has expertly executed, full coverage, Nimschke-style floral scrollwork engraving, and retains practically all of an excellent, added blue finish. All edges and markings remain sharp, and there is only a very faint turn-ring on the cylinder. In keeping with the other .32 caliber Detective Specials produced in the late-’70s, the revolver has the older style unshrouded barrel, rather than the shrouded barrels fitted to the .38 caliber revolvers. The genuine mother-of-pearl grips are likewise in excellent condition, with a single hairline crack on the backstop side of the right panel. The frame is signed and dated by master engraver R.W. Ingle under the grip on the right side as well: "R.W. Ingle / Engr 10-1-03". The lock-up is tight, and the action functions flawlessly. This is an excellent, wonderfully embellished Detective Special, in a scarce chambering, and would make a splendid addition to any collection.
