INDIAN WARS SPRINGFIELD U.S. MODEL 1873 TRAPDOOR .45-70 CAL. RIFLE. 32 ½” barrel. Breech block stamped “U.S./MODEL/1873” and serial numbered in the 92,xxx range. Lock plate stamped “EAGLE/U.S./SPRINGFIELD”. Model 1879 stock with Virginia Militia “I/V A/396” stamps on comb of stock. Very good overall with finely grained walnut stock having a good Ordnance Inspector’s cartouche and metal a medium grey original patina. Perfect working order and excellent bore.
