This original U.S. issued M1911A1 was produced by 5 different manufacturers during Wars. This one, manufactured by Ithaca Gun Company of New York was one of approximately 2.7 million service pistols U.S. military procured pistols during its service life. It was widely used in World War I, World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War, eventually being replaced in 1985. Modernized variants of the M1911 are still in use by some units of the U.S. Army Special Forces, U.S. Marine Corps and the U.S. Navy today favored for its legendary knock down power and reliability. This pre-owned M11911A1 acquired from the Civilian Marksmanship Program does have extensive signs of service use, that gives it character, but overall is in good shape given its age.
