It was essentially a copy of the Czech vz.33 carbine, and was specifically issued to the Gebirgstruppen (mountain troops). It is easily distinguished by a shorter barrel (19.4" compared to the K98k's 24") and a protective metal plate on the left side of the buttstock. In all, estimates are that fewer than 120,000 of these guns were made between 1940 and 1942, when Brno was converted to the manufacture of K98ks. These are rare to find in correct and intact condition. 8mm Mauser SOLD Curio/Relic: Yes Chambers: "7.92x57 Mauser, aka 8 mm Mauser in a five round box magazine bolt action carbine Metal Condition: "Very good, shows refurbishment at the arsenal Wood Condition: "Very good, appears to be a replacement Bore Condition: Good rifling Barrels: 19.4 Triggers: Two stage military Stock Dimensions: 13" LOP Fore End: Plain wood laminate with barrel band and metal fore end tip incorporating the bayonet lug Butt Pad: Metal cup with a protective metal plate on the left side for protection from mountaineering boots with crampons Weight: 7 Lbs. 14 Oz.
